This morning Mommy, Daddy, and Grandpa Baker went to the temple, and I stayed at home with Grandma Baker:
Later in the day, we visited the marina and played in the Erie Canal:
This evening Mommy, Daddy, Grandpa Baker, and I visited the Mendon area. This area played an important role in the Restoration. In the background of this picture, you can see the land where Brigham Young built one of his homes. Several important people in Church history (like Brigham Young, Heber C. Kimball, and their wives) were also baptized here, and an amazing vision was had in this area on the night that Joseph Smith received the gold plates:
This is the original barn owned by Phineas Young (Brigham's brother). Several Church meetings were held here:
In this picture, you can see the original home of John and Abigail Young, Brigham and Phineas's parents:
This is the Tomlinson Inn. (Part of it is original.) The young missionary Samuel Smith (Joseph's brother) came to the Inn very discouraged because he was having little success. It was here that he met Phineas Young. Phineas purchased a Book of Mormon, which he shared with members of his family and the Kimballs. The Tomlinsons (who owned the Inn) were also baptized. The Mendon Branch included many stalwart members of the Church:
