Road Trip!

Last week we drove 2,000 miles cross country. It was a crazy trip. Here are a few of the highlights:
On Day 1 of our journey we missed a turn, so we took an alternate route to get to Albuquerque. On our way, we cut through El Malpais National Monument. Here is La Ventana, a natural sandstone arch. The views were beautiful! It was a great detour, except that the running lights on the moving van weren't working and we had to use our hazard lights and stay in the right lane all the way to our hotel that night (where Penske sent someone out to replace the fuse).

The next day we had a tire blow out (even though we bought all new tires for the trip). We got two new tires in Santa Rosa. Meanwhile, the girls waited for Daddy at McDonald's.

We ate a lot of McDonald's last week!

This giant cross is located right off of Route 66, near Amarillo, Texas. I read somewhere that it is the biggest cross in North America. Grandpa Baker suggested that we stop and check it out. It was really neat. You can read more about it here: http://wesrouse.hubpages.com/hub/Photo-Tour-of-the-Cross-in-Groom-Texas. We would have liked to have done more sightseeing, but we were in such a hurry to get to Ohio that we didn't see much else.
