More Healthy Snacking

Soy Yogurt! (I've been looking for this for weeks, and I finally found some at Kroger on Saturday.)

Ants on a Log

Surprisingly, Heidi didn't like it. (Lizzie is usually the picky one.)
Oh yeah... Notice the big goose egg on the left side of her forehead? Yeah, not sure how she got that.

Fashionista

Lizzie came up with this outfit yesterday during naptime. She's wearing a shirt for a skirt (with matching shorts underneath), and two pairs of tights for a belt. Since our move, naptime has consisted of pulling everything out of her drawers and throwing it on the floor. (Yes, it is getting very old having to put away all the girls' clothes every day after naptime.)

Our First (of Many) Trips to the Toledo Zoo

We love that the zoo is only a three-minute drive from our house. We bought a zoo membership today, and we are excited to make regular visits to our local zoo. It's a very good zoo. We just did a quick visit today, and we only covered about half of the things that there are to see. Here are a few highlights of today's trip:
Seal and Polar Bear Sculpture near the Entrance

Seals

Polar Bears

Giraffes

Bald Eagles

Tigers

Penguins

Bears

Elephants (As you can probably tell from the picture, by the time we got to the elephants, the girls were ready to go home for lunch.) :o)

More Dairy-Free Living

Yesterday Mommy made vegan zucchini bread to eat while we watched "the prophet's birthday party." It tasted really good!

And the girls approved!

Heidi shoveled it down. :o)
We also tried dairy-free sausage gravy this morning, but that wasn't as much of a success. It was okay, but it didn't taste quite like the original, and Lizzie didn't even try it. :o(

Boxes

We've finally finished unpacking. But in the meantime, the girls loved playing with the boxes:
(And yes, we did just buy her an actual kitchen set for her birthday--but I guess you can't beat a cardboard box!) :o)

Road Trip!

Last week we drove 2,000 miles cross country. It was a crazy trip. Here are a few of the highlights:
On Day 1 of our journey we missed a turn, so we took an alternate route to get to Albuquerque. On our way, we cut through El Malpais National Monument. Here is La Ventana, a natural sandstone arch. The views were beautiful! It was a great detour, except that the running lights on the moving van weren't working and we had to use our hazard lights and stay in the right lane all the way to our hotel that night (where Penske sent someone out to replace the fuse).

The next day we had a tire blow out (even though we bought all new tires for the trip). We got two new tires in Santa Rosa. Meanwhile, the girls waited for Daddy at McDonald's.

We ate a lot of McDonald's last week!

This giant cross is located right off of Route 66, near Amarillo, Texas. I read somewhere that it is the biggest cross in North America. Grandpa Baker suggested that we stop and check it out. It was really neat. You can read more about it here: http://wesrouse.hubpages.com/hub/Photo-Tour-of-the-Cross-in-Groom-Texas. We would have liked to have done more sightseeing, but we were in such a hurry to get to Ohio that we didn't see much else.

More Pictures of Our New House

All that's missing now is the basement (washer, dryer, and storage--not too interesting), the bathroom, and the living room. I'll post pictures of the living room as soon as we finish unpacking all of our books.
Pretty typical for the area... Two stories with a basement. Beautiful!!

Our Kitchen (You can see the breakfast nook--which we love!--in some of the other posts.)

Backyard, Garage, and Deck (It's so nice to sit out on the deck and visit when the weather is cool. Reminds me of Grandpa Hadley and my parents.)
