Spring Break!

Yay... Daddy's on Spring Break! We celebrated by having a family day:
Watching Daddy clean the snow off the car.

Playing at McDonald's for lunch.
A birthday party for Mommy. :o)

Fifth Disease

On Saturday morning, Liz woke up with a rash on her face. We finally got in to see the doctor this morning, and she thinks it was caused by a virus called Fifth Disease. Fortunately, Liz is happy as can be... no symptoms except the rash.
This picture was taken on Day 3, and the rash is pretty hard to see here. It's pretty well confined to her cheeks, nose, and around her mouth. It should go away on its own--without any treatment--in the next week or two.

"Sugar tastes so yummy!"

After our trip to the grocery store, Mommy was pretty worn out. So she put Heidi down for a nap and lay down on the couch for a minute. A couple minutes later--after a suspicious silence--Lizzie comes in and says, "Sugar tastes so yummy!" Turns out, she opened a box of cherry jello mix and started eating the powder plain. (Sigh.)
Notice the red power on her face, hands, and pants.

Magically Delicious

When Heidi eats Lucky Charms, she likes to eat it dry and pick out all the marshmallows. Ha ha.

Happy Valentine's Day!

When the girls woke up this morning, they let themselves out of their room and went downstairs--to find their Valentine's baskets.

Liz couldn't be coerced into looking up from her new puzzle long enough to take a picture.

Yay for Valentine's Day!

"I'm a Princess!"

For the last several days, the first thing Lizzie does when she wakes up is to pull one of her "princess dresses" out of the closet and dress herself in princess dress, tights, and princess shoes. She loves princesses, and she loves to dress up like one:
And yes, her dress is on backwards.
And she needed help with the buttons and bow.
Now we're just working on modesty. Liz likes to pull her dresses down so that they're over-the-shoulder. I think she's going for the Ariel / Jasmine / Belle ballgown look. (Normally, she wears this dress with a long-sleeve undershirt.)

Super Bowl Sunday Dinner

Not a fan of football on Sundays, but here was our Super Bowl-themed Sunday dinner: Li'l Smokies, cheese and crackers, fruit and dip, chips and 7-layer dip. Not your traditional Sunday dinner, but yummy! :o)

Our Little Artist

One of the moms in our ward was making care packages for her son on a mission and her daughter at BYU-I. This was Lizzie's contribution. (It's a rainbow, she says.) I was impressed!

More Snow!

It warmed up earlier this week, but then about two days ago it got really cold again. Then this morning we woke up to snow!

Supposedly, Punxsutawney Phil predicts an early spring this year, but I'm a little skeptical.

Happy Groundhog's Day!

Scott thought it ould be fun to make a snowman, but it didn't last very long. Heidi kept knocking it over.

Heidi's Favorite Place

Heidi loves to lie on top of the heater vent to stay warm:
And yes, that's banana on her chin. :o)

Miss "Bizzes"

Heidi can't quite pronounce "Elizabeth," so she calls her "Bizzes." So cute. :o)

Well-Child Visit

We finally took the girls in for their two- and three-year well child visits. Here's how they measured:
  • Elizabeth: 28th percentile for height, 18th percentile for weight
  • Heidi: 84th percentile for height, 49th percentile for weight
Yay for healthy kids! And double yay for not needing any shots!!

Build a Bear Workshop

For Christmas, Grandpa Miller gave the girls gift cards to Build a Bear, so today we took the girls to the mall:
In front of the stuffing machine.
Giving her bear a heart.

Fluffing her bear.
Brushing his fur.
Heidi's turn!
Heidi resisted putting the heart inside her puppy.
Combing the puppy. (Fluffying the puppy was too noisy and scared her.)
Heidi carried her Build A Bear from inside the mall, through the parking lot, and all the way to the van--without any help.
The finished product, with accessories.

More Christmas

We got back to Toledo last night, and this morning we found another present from Santa under our tree:
The girls also enjoyed coloring their castle from Uncle Eric and Aunt Donna:

And playing in the box that Grandma Miller sent:

Christmas Continued!

We got home to Toledo tonight, and we had more presents waiting from us from Grandma Miller. Yay!

Winter in New York

We just spent the last week and a half in New York. It snowed just about every day we were there.
Check out the ice stalagmites.

I don't know if you can tell, but one of the icicles is just a few inches away from touching the floor of the porch.

In this picture, you can kind of see how deep the snow is.

The woodpile, buried in snow.

The parking lot next door. The snowplow plowed the snow into a huge mountain, mroe than a story tall.

More icicles.

The church across the street... Isn't it beautiful in the snow?
P.S. We turned off our heater while we were out of town, and we returned home to a 31-degree house.
